How do I play Wikifindr?
To play, you are given a start word and a target word. You must navigate between Wikipedia articles by clicking on the links, trying to reach the target word in as few steps as possible. Each step adds to your score.
How do I start a game?
First, select a word pair by clicking either the "🔄 Random Words" button to get a random start/target pair, or choose one of the hand-crafted "⚔️ Weekly Challenges". Once your pair is selected, press the "▶️ Start Game" button to begin navigating through Wikipedia links.
My game seems lost—save is gone. What happened?
To minimize intrusiveness, Wikifindr saves your in-progress games locally in your browser. Make sure you return using the same browser (and avoid private/incognito mode) to access your saved games under "📶 Resume Saved Games." Rest assured, completed game scores are stored permanently, so once you finish a game, your score is saved and cannot be lost.
What are "Weekly Challenges"?
Weekly challenges are hand-crafted word pairs where you compete with other players to find the shortest path. These challenges refresh weekly, adding new ways to test your skills.
How do I save my progress?
Wikifindr automatically saves your progress during gameplay. You can resume a saved game at any time by clicking the "Resume Saved Games" button on the main menu.
Can I play Wikifindr on my mobile device?
Yes! Wikifindr is fully mobile-friendly and can be played on any device with a web browser, including smartphones and tablets.
How are scores calculated in Wikifindr?
Your score in Wikifindr is calculated based on the number of steps (or clicks) it takes to reach your target word. The fewer steps, the better your score!
If two player have similar score, time is taken into account.
Previous page will also add +1, going back to first word is +5.
How can I share my score with friends?
Once you complete a game, you can share your score and challenge your friends to beat it! Simply click the "Share" button to send your results to social media or messaging apps.
Is there a leaderboard in Wikifindr?
Yes! The leaderboard displays the top players based on the best scores. Compete to reach the top and earn bragging rights!
